As far as I know Indian can speak in various languages including English the reason is that India was ruled by UK for a few decades. In addition, India has around 1.3 billion people and superb colleges as well as they take over significant role in high valued companies like Microsoft, Pepsi, Sun systems and tons of IT companies in Silicon Valley. India has been turning out around 400,000 engineers every year which means India has powerful competitiveness to win in the future. Today I would like to introduce a CEO who is in charge of Microsoft and Indian. Microsoft is well known for Windows Operating system in a computer, it was new direction to open new market, business and world. More and more people like to use a computer to ensure, higher and higher profit of the company. Microsoft was established in 1975 and the founder who is Bill Gates managed the company until 2000. As an operating system for computers that Window take 90% in a market. Since 1995, the company extended other areas like web-browser, office software, online service, entertainments and mobile business. Microsoft Company includes 4 divisions like MS-Window, MS-Office, Enterprise&Cloud and Consumer&Device. I would like to emphasize, MS is getting tremendous profit not only from Windows but also from others. Even in a future without computers, MS would not be bankrupt due to other products. MS-Window and MS-Office are prominent and deeply penetrating our life. We can’t imagine existence without both. Both businesses are big stones to maintain Microsoft but it needs another big stone to lead the next generation. 2nd CEO of Microsoft is ‘Steve Ballmer’ who started Enterprise&Cloud business and caused it to boom up from 2000 and then ‘Satya Nadella’ took over Microsoft to manage as CEO in 2014. I am going to explain briefly who he is.

Satya Nadella

Full Name : Satya Nadella

Birthplace : Hyderabad, India

Born : 1967

Residence : Bellevue, WA

Education : BS, MSCS, MBA

Hobbies : Cricket, poetry.

He brings a relentless drive for innovation and a spirit of collaboration to his new role. He joined Microsoft 22 years ago because he saw how clearly Microsoft empowers people to do magical things and ultimately make the world a better place. Many companies, he says, “aspire to change the world. But very few have all the elements required: talent, resources and perseverance. Microsoft has proven that it has all three in abundance.

Nadella, 46, was born in Hyderabad, India. Growing up, playing cricket was his “passion” and he played it competitively as a member of his school’s team. He said cricket taught him more about working in teams and leadership that has stayed with him throughout his career.

He knew that computer science was what he wanted to pursue. But that emphasis was not available when he attended Mangalore University in India, where he got a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. And so it was a great way for him to go discover what turned out to become a passion.

He went on to earn a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, then a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago. He said, he is a learner and can learn something about some area, people and new things. He admires that in other people too. He often signs up for online courses; he loves to listen to a neuroscience class or something. He started his career as a member of the technology staff at Sun Microsystems. In 1992, he joined Microsoft. He was on his way to get master’s degree in business when the Microsoft job offer came. The company was building an operating system that ultimately would be known as Windows NS, and needed team members who understood UNIX and 32-bit operating system. Nadella wanted to complete his master’s degree and take the Microsoft job. He did both. He used to fly to Chicago Friday nights, attend classes Saturdays and come back to Redmond to work during the week. It took him two-and-a-half years, but he finished his master’s degree

Microsoft’s new CEO finds relaxation by reading poetry, in all forms and by poets who are both India and American. He also enjoys watching Cricket matches; he can go for days and days with games.

He got promoted in 2006 as top of the manager for this Enterprise&Cloud division. Besides he led searching and advertisement part to penetrate a market by Bing which is search Engine. For the result, he got promoted as a vice-president in Enterprise & division. Finally he became CEO of Microsoft 14th Feb 2014.

Why Microsoft chose Satya Nadella as 3rd CEO?

He led Enterprise&Cloud division to success with ‘office365’ and ‘Window Server 2012’. And then profit of Enterprise&Cloud division reached 18.5 billion USD in 2012 and 20.3 USD in 2013. What I like to say is he showed his ability to Microsoft to rise in a new area. In the meantime, He has been working various fields since he started the work in Microsoft. The company is doing well in enterprise but facing difficulties in consumer market now. As MS chose Satya Nadella who is an enterprise expert, MS keeps an eye on enterprise area and jumps to ‘Device & Service Company’ business. The company evaluated him to be reasonable and with a negotiator style. For this reason, he will judge to be successful quickly and not hold onto strenuous and stressful business.

What does Satya Nadella plan?

When he became CEO he sent all employees an email to share his plan and vision as well as he encouraged the people. He mentioned “we need to prioritize innovation that is centered on core value of empowering user and organization to ‘do more’. We have picked a set of high-value activities as part of our One Microsoft strategy. And with every service and device launch going forward we need to bring more innovation to bear around these scenarios. Next, Every one of us needs to do our best work, lead and help drive cultural change. We sometimes underestimate what we each can do to make things happen and overestimate what others do to move us forward. We must change this” in his mail.

As market, society, technologies and trend are changing dramatically; we don’t know what an extra ordinary adventure it is going to be. Microsoft is the worldwide leader in software, service and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential. Satya Nadella stands in the center of Microsoft. I remember below his saying and expect how MS is going to be.

Our Industry does not respect tradition – it only respects innovation.
